Christmas? Holidays? In August?!? C'mon!!!

More than a few years ago, I found myself in a sound studio in Pennsylvania, assisting in the recording of a Christmas album. It was hot outside because it was August. Inside the studio were sounds of the holidays. When we stepped outside for a break, it was odd to be suddenly propelled into the hot stickiness of an August day.
We’re feeling the same way at Chapelwood. It’s hot outside (because it’s August, and it’s Florida!) but we’re thinking about building up our minimalist nativity scenes, Advent wreaths, gift boxes, and other things that might be a big gift or a stocking stuffer.
The best things in life take time or are sometimes defined by a point in time. Holidays…all holidays…birthdays, valentine’s day, Easter, anniversaries put that front and center. The first Christmas together, or maybe you know someone that will be having the first Christmas apart.
We were recording that Christmas Album in August because it needed to be mixed and an album created. There needed to be time so that cassette tapes and CDs (such new tech we had!) could be produced, packaged with an insert and sealed for sale long before the holidays. We were up against it for sure!
It’s the same thing at Chapelwood all these years later. Each piece is made by hand. Wood from around the world needs to be hand chosen and bought from our suppliers. It needs to be cut, glued, shaped, sanded, prepped for finishing, finished, cured and buffed. Then it needs to be packaged and shipped so that you have enough time to receive it and have it gift wrapped.
Take a few minutes in August to think about the end of the year. Let me know if something you see in our galleries piques your interest. Our gift shop shows some of our standard items but is still very much under construction.
And remember that we love discussing ideas. Let me help you design that special gift so that meaning can be designed and created in from the start. Go to the contact page and send me your thoughts.
After you spend a few minutes thinking about December, we’re hoping that you enjoy late summer wherever you are. ...oh...and if you like the beautiful piece of jewelry in the box above, let me know that too. I'll put you in touch with my friend Marlene. Her work is amazing!
