Signs, Internet sales, and Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving from Chapelwood.

A big project for a favorite customer has been keeping me busy for the last few weeks. A restaurant chain needs 45 sandwich signs for the sidewalks outside of their entrances. They came to me with a simple design…and simplicity in design is always a good thing.

The size and quantity mean that I need make the best use of my relatively small shop. I started out with doing lots of 5 but then discovered I could do lots of 10 more efficiently. Being made for outside, each flat and frame component needs to be cut and painted individually prior to assembly. I usually do finer work, and I’m not a big fan of painting. But when a favorite customer needs something, you do what needs to be done.

The signs in the picture will ship out on Monday and then I just have 10 more to go. Then I need to finish some custom maple nightstands and get back to work creating standard items for internet sales.
